Coach Matt Clark is the Assistant Varsity Football Coach here at Bozeman High. His career started when he was a junior in high school. “My brother told everyone I was afraid of contact so I went out the next year to prove him wrong.” He then went on to play at University of Montana and in the Canadian Football League. After his playing days were over he coached at all level and is currently at BHS.
Coach Clark says the main thing he has learned from his athletes is to never judge a book by it’s cover. “I’ve seen many that look like Tarzan and play like Jane and vice versa!” He also learned that there is always a story behind every athlete and it is important to take the time to get to know them “They can be inspirational.”
Clark, wants his athletes to take an important thing away from the game. He wants the players to learn what it takes to be successful. “Nobody is entitled to success…it is earned.” He believes it takes hardwork, being organized, understanding your role in a group setting, working with others and being a student of the game. “Just to name a few.”
Coach Clark says “ I’m pretty content being a coach for the Bozeman Hawks.” “I’m grateful for the opportunity that Coach Purcell has given me.”
